Nicole founded Global Genes in September 2008, with the goal of helping families affected by rare disease connect with tools, resources, and much needed support, in an effort to help eliminate their challenges in rare disease. She has successfully launched and built Global Genes into a multi-million dollar non-profit organization, fulfilling the vision and mission of creating a connected, empowered and inspired global rare disease community. Since it’s inception, Global Genes has impacted hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide through the development of educational tools and resources and hosting world-class patient focused events.
Prior to founding Global Genes, Nicole held numerous consulting, sales, and marketing executive roles in her 30 years in business. Nicole has worked with world-class organizations in media, pharmaceutical, venture and the high tech sector. Nicole is a proven leader, with a strong emphasis in launching new products, developing new revenue streams, creating and implementing integrated marketing programs, building strategic partnerships and managing a highly successful business.
Nicole was personally touched by rare disease through friends, whose son struggled to find a diagnosis for over 3 years. Once diagnosed, they learned that there were neither treatments nor cures for their son’s disease. She understands the importance of finding a diagnosis, the need to help equip patient advocates with tools and resources to help them on their journey, and knows the power and importance of patients and their increasing role in developing treatments and cures. She has built an entire organization to help address this reality.
Nicole is a native of Southern California. She holds her BS in Political Science from the University of California San Diego. Nicole is a proud wife and mother of two adult children, and in her spare time enjoys yoga and beach volleyball.
